Eternity rings which are now often called "circles of diamonds", are a traditional present, given on the birth of the first child. The rings under a quarter carat are usually set alongside the engagement ring, and tend to draw the eye along to the central diamond on the engagement ring. Some customers prefer a half eternity ring, on the basis that the other half of the ring is not seen anyway. As there are half as many diamonds, then it follows that each diamond is twice as big in a quarter Carat half eternity, as in a quarter carat full eternity. Half Carat and bigger eternity rings are usually given as right hand rings.
